Airport Location & Facilities:
The airport is located 15 miles (25km) from
Melbourne to the north of the city.The airport has excellent
facilities, with a bank, currency exchange, and a variety of
bars and restaurants available throughout. Left-luggage
facilities are available in the International Terminal
Arrivals hall. The wide variety
of airport shopping opportunities includes duty-free.
Showers, mobile phone rental, luggage storage and Internet
connection are also available. Facilities for the disabled
are good.

Departures area. Baby-change facilities are available
throughout the airport. There is also a prayer room and a
medical practice in the International Terminal.
Transfer Between Terminals
The terminals are all located within the
same complex and are linked by walkways.
Arriving in Melbourne
When arriving in Melbourne, passengers
must proceed to the Entry Control Point. You will need to
have the following documents ready:
- Passport
- Completed Incoming Passenger Card
Once processed, you may proceed to baggage
reclaim to collect your bags.
After collecting your baggage, proceed to
the exiting point where your Incoming Passenger Card will be
checked by an officer prior to passing through Customs and
the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service.
Passenger Information
Don't forget to declare any necessary items, as there are
severe penalties for failing to declare articles that are
prohibited, restricted or for which you are required to pay
duty/sales tax.
Cash amounts of $A10,000 or more needs to be reported on
arrival to Customs officers (excluding travellers cheques).
It is important to remember that if you
have any animal or plant item with you, or packed in your
luggage, you must declare it on your Incoming Passenger
Card. Please note that unaccompanied
baggage may attract inspection charges.
Some products may require treatment to
make them safe. Other items that pose pest and disease risks
will be seized and destroyed by AQIS. You can dispose of
high-risk items in quarantine bins in the airport terminal.
If you’re not sure, ask a Quarantine officer.
If you fail to declare or dispose of any quarantine
items, or make a false declaration:
- you will be caught;
- you could be fined $220 on-the-spot; or
- you could be prosecuted and fined more than $60,000
and risk 10 years jail.
You will not be penalised if goods are declared.
Airport Parking & Transfers:
The airport has both long-term open and
undercover parking, and short-term car parks, as well as a
business car park abutting the South Terminal. A courtesy
bus service operates between the open long-term parking and
the terminal buildings.The SkyBus offers a frequent 24-hour
shuttle bus service between the airport, the city centre and
city hotels. Several public bus services also link the
airport to different parts of the city and surrounds. Taxis
are available from outside both domestic and international
terminals.
Shopping
As an international passenger, you can buy a huge selection
of duty free good, apparel, music, Australian produce,
confectionary, surf wear, news & books, jewellery, souvenirs
and more - all TAX free. Australian
Produce Store
Australian Produce Store offers produce
including abalone, scallops, kangaroo, wine (both large,
commercial wineries to small boutique vineyards), macadamia
nuts, royal jelly, vitamins, Golden Boronia nougat, honey
and health products.
World of Chocolate offers an
amazing array of confectionary, including scrumptious
hand-made truffles, assorted gift boxed chocolates,
chocolate rocks, as well as toys with sweets, plus a great
variety of European and Australian chocolates. World of
Chocolate offers confectionary from across the globe
designed to entice both the domestic and international
traveler.
